About Mountain Goat Carpentry
As the Owner and Craftsman of Mountain Goat Carpentry, I, Christopher Michell, have spent over 10 years in the finish carpentry industry, working hands-on with the details that give a home its character—doors, trim, built-ins, and custom woodwork. Before starting Mountain Goat Carpentry, I also spent several years as a superintendent building custom luxury homes in the Asheville area, managing projects from breaking ground all the way to certificate of occupancy.
Even with that broader experience, my passion has always lived in the artistry and beauty of finish carpentry. I started this business to focus on what I love most: bringing beautiful, artistic wood finishes into the homes of the Asheville community.
My wife, Caroline, and I met in Chapel Hill, NC, and we’ve called Asheville home for over 12 years. We have a playful 2.5‑year‑old son who keeps us laughing and on our toes. As a family, we love being outdoors—hiking, camping, fishing, and canoeing—and we enjoy supporting the many local businesses that make Asheville such a special place to live.
